January 20, 2015: Cloud Security Alliance – Southwest Chapter’s first meeting of 2015 was a great success. The focus was on “Auditing the Cloud”. Many of the CSA-Southwest Chapter members mentioned that they had lots of concerns about how to manage/audit the Cloud environments within their IT network. The speakers were chosen to respond specifically to this request.

Cloud Security Law

This presentation focused on cloud-centric perspectives of state and FTC Act regulatory exposures, enforcement, related court decisions, and appropriate organizational preparation and responses. FTC actionable criteria were defined and shown to currently be a moving target. Security breach litigation was reviewed and showed shrinking defenses are provided. Finally, director liability arising from data breach was explored, including protecting against liability, preventing/mitigating litigation, post-leak litigation prevention, indemnification, and insurance strategies to minimize exposure.
