Chapter Business

Marc Pinotti opened the meeting with Chapter Business which included:.

  • Our next luncheon meeting is in November at the Secure World conference at Meydenbaur Center. Mark Russinovich will be the featured speaker.
  • Interface Conference on December 5th at the Washington State Convention Center. Admission is free to CSA Seattle Chapter Members and qualifies for 6 CPE credits. See our Upcoming Events  page for more information.  When registering:  Under “How did you hear about INTERFACE?”  select “Association Invitation” and enter “CSA Seattle Chapter”.   The Chapter receives $25.00 for Chapter Member that attends.
  • CSA Seattle Chapter released the 2013 Cloud Adoption report. The survey from 2012 identified obstacles to moving to the Cloud and measures adoption rates. View the report at Cloud Security Survey Fall 2013.
  • A big Thank You!!!! to Michael Baker, Director Business Development with BAE Systems Detica, for all of his hard work to manage our Chapter communications.

Marc closed Chapter Business by introducing our new diamond level Chapter Sponsor Zscaler.  Jeff Bird from Zscaler provided an brief introduction to the company.  Zscaler provides a globally secure Cloud environment that enable business to operate safely in the Cloud.  Thank you Zscaler and Jeff for your support of the CSA Seattle Chapter.

John Christiansen discussed “HITECH Regulatory Traps for Healthcare Cloud Services”
Mr. Christiansen is an attorney with Christiansen IT Law, based in Seattle, Washington. Christiansen IT Law provides health information technology (“IT”)-related legal services including privacy and security compliance, security breach response and reporting, electronic health records and health information exchange contracting and administration, and related services to healthcare organizations, health IT vendors and governmental agencies. John is a frequent speaker and author on health IT-related topics, and is a national leader in this field including current service as Chair of the American Bar Association’s HITECH Megarule Task Force.

Cary Sholer discussed Cloud Service Providers: Information Risk Assessments”

Mr. Sholer is the President and CEO of Farallon Risk Group LLC, an information security and risk management consulting firm based in Bellevue WA. Specialties include: Critical Event Risk Management, Breach Response Program Development, Computer Forensics Investigations, IT Risk Management, Information Security Consulting, IT Architecture Services, and IT Leadership Training.
