Founding a startup is a hard work. The daily roller coaster can exhaust you fast. And on top of that, you need to cope with information security challenges, compliance and tough questions from customers.

The Israeli chapter of the Cloud Security Alliance is helping the local startup community cope with those challenges. Over the last couple of years we have identified a gap in the InfoSec knowledge and produced a Best Practices manual, designed for startups that rely on Cloud infrastructure.

We will discuss the principles of the document at the event, as well as share the experiences of leading Security Experts from LivePerson, Outbrain, Wix and ClickSoftware – how they have been coping with such security challenges.

This event is a digest of a paper created by the Israeli Chapter of the CSA to help Software-as-a-Service startups (SaaS-SUs) gain and maintain client trust, by building solid security foundations.

CSA-IL meeting summary – Review of 2014 and plans for 2015

Hi All,
I would to thank all who have participated in the CSA IL meeting on the 16th of March 2015. A warm thanks also to “SECOZ” for kindly and pleasantly hosting this meeting at its office.

In the meeting we reviewed the activities performed by CSA-IL in 2014 and raised activities ideas for 2015. Here is a short summary of the topics discussed on the meeting:

Topic 1:
Introducing Chapter goals, 2014 activities and the results of the chapter members survey.

Topic 2:
Promoting CSA-IL visibility
– More contributors to social media are required. If you ready to help – simply post interesting stories to our Facebook and LinkedIn groups.
Eitan Caspi will lead creation of meetup platform and a list of Israeli CCSK and STAR certified professionals. If you hold those certifications and interested in listing your name do let us know.

Topic 3:
Promoting responsible cloud adoption in Israel
The group will continue last years’ efforts of contributing to the education of cloud consumers and providers. This will be made by actively providing lectures, knowledge and sponsoring cloud security related events.
On 2015 we will focus on two main aspects:
a. Create a best practices guidelines for cloud adoption for the SMB sector (first focus on Office356 & Google Apps). We look for committee leader to take over this responsibility.
b. Actively helping the different regulators to understand how to governance cloud adoption. Gilad Yaron will lead the committee that will support these efforts.

Topic 4:
Promoting Israeli Cloud Security startups through CSA resources
Eitan Caspi will lead an effort to create a catalog of all the Israeli related Cloud Security startups. If you interested in listing your company – do let us know.

For more details please see the following file of the full meeting minutes.

Thank you on behalf of CSA Israel members!

Regards,
Moshe Ferber
